Modern community

Tribes 2’s official services shut down long ago. Every server still running is hosted by players. This section covers who runs what.

Server Run by What it’s for
Legacy CTF+ ChocoTaco The general public server
| The Cut | YTBlake and IrvinT2 Saturday night PUGs
Fission Core FlakPyro General community servers
Dad Tribes Jerry and Gunther Public play and Friday PUGs
Ski Club slush 5v5 LCTF PUGs, with TrueSkill ratings
Wilderzone GeekOfWires Development and testing
Blair Lag Project Blakhart Classic, heavily botted
The-Construct.net The Construct The Construction Mod community

Two kinds of game, and the difference matters if you’re new:

A pub is a public server. Join whenever, play whoever turns up, leave when you like. Legacy CTF+ and Dad Tribes are the ones to try first.

A PUG — a pick-up game — runs to a schedule, but the teams are not settled until the match itself. Attendance varies, so sides are picked from whoever actually turns up, right at the start. PUGs are where the more competitive play happens, and the schedule is announced in Discord rather than by sitting in a server waiting. The Cut runs Saturday nights, Dad Tribes runs Fridays, and Ski Club runs 5v5 through The Cut’s Discord.

Tournaments are the exception: there the teams are drafted well in advance, and the fixtures are known before the season starts. See the 25 Year Anniversary Tournament.

If a server looks empty, that’s usually why — check Discord before assuming the game is dead.

You need the game and a community patch first. See Tribes 2 for the setup, and community patches for which patch to use.
