Another Tournament in the Works — July 27, 2011

Section titled “Another Tournament in the Works — July 27, 2011”

After the success of the 10-year anniversary tournament, TeamWarfare has decided to host another Tribes 2 draft tournament - the first in what might be a seasonal series of tournaments. For the last tournament, Hi-Rez (the makers of Tribes: Ascend and owners of the Tribes franchise) offered prizes to the winners in the form of Tribes: Ascend merchandise, but it is yet unknown if they will be sponsoring this tournament in some way. While the 10-year anniversary tournament was set up and managed by two players, this one will be run by TWL from the get-go, so any organizational issues that people made have noticed with the last tournament should not carry over to this one. The draft will occur on August 8th, so sign-ups will be open until then. For more information, feel free to check out this thread on the TeamWarfare forums.

Tribes 2 10 Year Anniversary Tournament — March 3, 2011

Section titled “Tribes 2 10 Year Anniversary Tournament — March 3, 2011”

TeamWarfare and a couple of Tribes 2 players have organized a draft tournament to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of Tribes 2’s release. Sign-ups opened several weeks ago, and have since concluded. The draft consisted of about 230 players and 10 teams. More information can be found on TWL. While it is technically too late to sign up, there are a couple teams that are having roster issues, and these teams might need to recruit more players one way or another. So even if you missed the deadline, you might still have a chance to play in some matches or even get onto a team.

For those of you who use the Tribes 2 in-game chat, you should be aware that the operator of that IRC server randomly decided that he is no longer going to tolerate Tribes players on his chat network. When TribesNext RC3 is released, Tribes 2 in-game chat will point to a much more stable and well-operated IRC server (irc.tribalwar.com), but until then, Tribes 2 in-game chat will be rather unpopular and may be hostile towards Tribes players. We recommend you steer clear of it unless you just want to see what happens when an idiotic spaz gets his hands on an IRC server. Instructions on how to connect to the new IRC server without using Tribes 2 in-game chat can be found here.
